ISTE Standard 5c

ISTE Standard 5c-Computational Thinker This project will allow students to develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.   The student will break the components into parts to obtain the key information to answer the questions asked of them.    The information will be retrieved from the graphs they create to solve math problems.   Students are to use the graph to compile conclusions.   With creating the graphs, the students will be able to facilitate problem solving. View my Computational Thinker page to view a sample project.

ISTE Standards 5b

ISTE Standard 5b-Computational Thinker This project will allow students to develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.   The students will create a graph using the app on the iPad.  Student will s ort and classify data into categories. They will collect the date of data sets and  use digital tools to analyze the results.   Once the graph is completed with all the information entered the students will calculate and solve the problems given to them.   View my Computational Thinker page to view a sample project.

ISTE 4d- Innovative Designer

This project will allow students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.   The students will construct different geometric shaped buildings using shapes.   The students will demonstrate their understanding of positioning of objects by placing the shapes in the appropriate positions.   With doing these project/activities the students will show their tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and capacity to work with open-ended problems as they progress through the different structures.   This will definitely test their mental abilities.   The students will access the app via the internet on iPads.     They will create geometric shaped buildings using shapes.   The students will position objects appropriately by placing them below, above, beside, between, inside, in front of, or behind to create the final project. Check my "Innovative Designer" page to see a sample project.

ISTE S4a-Innovative Designer

Innovative Designer This project will allow students to use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.   The students will build a house using and app on an iPad.   The students will have to create a house where they will live with their family and pet(s).   The geographic location will contain a lot of rain and snow.   They are to create their house to uphold the weather conditions as well as being a pet owner (hint: a dog will run out of the yard if they are not fenced in).   The students will a ccess internet via iPad where they will access the w ebsite for the  project. They will c reate a house within the website using shapes.  The house must contain the following 2D and 3D shapes: circle, rectangle, cone, triangular prism, cube, and square. See "Innovative Designer" page to see a sample project.

ISTE 3d- Knowledge Constructor

This project will allow students use a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.   The project will strengthen student’s technological abilities through using digital tools.   The students will use QR scanner to obtain the number to complete a ten frame.   The QR scanner will display the number associated with the QR code (box).   Once the number is displayed the student will write the number on the line provided below the QR code box.   Then the student will color in the tens frame box according to the number associated with the QR code.   The final task will be to create a subtraction math sentence with the two  numbers provided by the QR scanner.   The math sentence should be written at the bottom of the worksheet.  View my Knowledge Constructor page to view a sample of  ISTE 3d project.

ISTE Standard-Global Citizen Standard: 2c This project I incorporated ISTE Standard 2c wich will strengthen student’s awareness to recognize characters, settings, events, and ideas as they developed and interacted with the story.  Student will be able to identify the cause and effect of events.  With interacting within this project, the student will be able to analyze the characters.  The students will be observing the setting and events which take place along with the idea of the story. With doing so the student gains the ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of working in an interconnected digital world.  They will demonstrate their knowledge via an interactive test.  I paired SC Standard: ELA-K. RLMC.8.1e   which states: Analyze characters, settings, events, and ideas as they develop and interact within a particular context-Identify the cause of event into the lesson as well.  This project will be performed using an iPad.  The student will need to de
Now moving on to another ISTE Standard #2 the Digital Citizen. The ISTE standard for these lesson is #2- Digital Citizen section b .   This standard engages the students in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using network devices.   It is a technological world and students need to understand there are guidelines in which they should follow to keep their equipment and information safe.   Like all things in life students need to be educated on how to perform while using technology.   I took my audience into consideration when I compile this lesson on Global Citizen.   I compiled the lesson to meet South Carolina ELK standard  RLMC.8.1d for Kindergarten to go along with the ISTE Standard.  The SC Standard states:  Analyze characters, setting, events, and ideas as the develop and interact within a particular context-identify the problem and solution.  Once the students complete the lesson it will strengthen th
To continue keeping the students connected to the digital world I incorporated another ISTE standard in the lesson plans: 1d- Empowered Learner .  The standard mentions student understands the fundamental concepts of technology operations demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies. This standard corresponds with SCCCR Mathematical Process Standard K.NS. 2- Count forward by ones beginning from any number less than 100. Student(s) will work with an interactive Number Bubble Count. Student will have to use the correct operations to pop the bubble.   The number will drop out of bubble into the correct location if deployed correctly.   Student will have to troubleshoot (change their approach) to surpass to the next level. This activity will allow the student to gain awareness of the numbers 1-100. Accomplishing this, student(s) will increase number recognition and number rela
I have taken in account the age of the students I knew I had to compile a lesson for.  I knew the students would need to be engaged so they would want to complete the task/lesson.   At such a young age, sustaining their attention is key.  To get the students connected to the digital world I incorporated the ISTE standards along with the SC Standards into lesson plans.   Throughout this blog I will explain in detail the different ISTE standards and SC Standards to incorporate into lesson plans so the students will become engaged and connected to the digital world. The first standard incorporated in the lesson plans is 1c- Empowered Learner .  This standard states Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.  This standard corresponds with SCCCR Mathematical Process Standard K.NS.1 -   This standard indication: Count forward by ones and tens to 100. You can see a sample lesson which I posted
